Studio OS

The AI operating system for knowledge-based practices: Knodge knowledge memory + an operational action layer as one system. From internal tooling to a SaaS product in a joint venture — with Cognitive Sovereignty as its architectural principle.

Starting Point / Problem

Knowledge-based practices — law firms, research groups, advisory and creative studios of 1–10 people — lose hours every day to operational tasks that could be intelligent: proposals, contracts, pipeline, project structure, strategic questions with no one to think against. Existing tools each solve one thing; none of them connects knowledge with execution.

At the same time, a second, structural distrust of AI is growing in exactly these practices: the distrust of auto-decision. Lawyers, doctors and researchers are professionally and legally obliged to think for themselves. An AI system for this audience has to answer both — the efficiency pain and the question of who decides in the end.

Studio OS — ChatGPT trains on what you paste. Notion stores your data. Agentic assistants act in your name. Studio OS knows your practice.

My Role / Contribution

Product Designer, System Architect & Concept Author — and co-founder of the joint venture NVG Studio × WISIT / Knodge (one brand to the outside, 50/50 revenue split):

  • Andamio — the operational layer: Architecture and build of the MCP-based action layer that has been running in the daily operations of my own studio since December 2025 — 27 tools, 5 workflow prompts: contracts, proposals, invoices, pipeline, journal, cockpit. Studio OS wasn't designed for a hypothetical user — it was extracted from a working practice.
  • Product architecture: Three-layer model — Knowledge Memory (Knodge), Practice Constitution, Coherence Rituals — plus three-tier model routing: local models for CRUD and tool routing, cloud only where quality is decisive.
  • Cognitive Sovereignty — the fourth principle: Author of the architecture note (May 2026) that turns the validation click from a background function into a categorical differentiator: AI suggests — the team validates — only then does it become collective knowledge.
  • Domain playbooks: Conception of four sectoral validation architectures (law firm, coaching, photography, professorships) — not generic workflows, but structured templates with an explicit duty of review.
  • Landing & go-to-market: Design and build of the product landing (React + Vite, trilingual DE/EN/ES, cookieless analytics, hosted in Germany), positioning matrix, pitch deck, pricing model.

Solution / Result

An AI operating system that knows what the practice knows — and acts on it without taking the thinking away.

The system formula:

Knodge = what the practice knows. Andamio = what the practice does. Studio OS = both, as one system.

Studio OS app — chat as the shell: studio mode with stances, quick actions and the Knodge collective intelligence engine

Cognitive Sovereignty — the architectural statement:

  • The validation click at the core: AI answers only enter the collective memory through active team validation. Not "AI answers → human accepts blindly", but "AI suggests → team validates → becomes collective knowledge."
  • Practice Constitution as a constitutional act: the system is calibrated by its users with their own methods, language rules and values — instead of silently training behaviour.
  • Suggests, never decides: outputs are structurings, not decisions. Judgement remains the unit of decision — and it remains human.

Proof of concept in own operations:

  • Both systems run in production, not as prototypes: active Knodge portals with documented collective validation processes + Andamio in daily studio operations
  • Studio OS Core: Knodge integration following the EntityType pattern — Markdown with YAML frontmatter, unique IDs, content tables, cross-entity references
  • UX guiding principle: chat is the shell — cockpit, documents and pipeline are views inside the conversation, not the other way around

Studio OS app — pipeline view: deals by stage with weighted forecast, guided tours per section

Repositioning as product maturity (May 2026):

  • The pilot phase showed: solo prosumers without compliance pressure are not the audience. Sharpened into a two-layer model: Personal Wrapper Design (engagement) for small partner-led practices, Studio OS (subscription) for institutional buyers — academia, mid-size law firms, healthcare with administration
  • AI policy module as a joint entry module with Knodge — an AI policy with a methodological core instead of compliance theatre
04

Impact / Value

  • From tool to product: the internal operating system of a one-person studio became a transferable architecture — extracted, named, productised
  • Joint venture established: NVG Studio × WISIT / Knodge as one brand — NVG owns product design and go-to-market, WISIT owns platform, RAG and data protection
  • Categorical differentiation: Cognitive Sovereignty as a named architectural principle — the validating, collective alternative to top-down AI rollouts and autonomous agents. The first in the segment to name it.
  • Landing live: studio-os.nvgstudio.de — trilingual, GDPR-compliant (cookieless analytics, hosted in Germany), SEO-indexed
  • Architecture, not feature: three layers + one transversal principle + sectoral playbooks — extensible to new domains without changing the core
  • Double credibility: the architect is the first user. Every function exists because it was needed and proven in the studio's own daily work.
